If we still use legacy systems, are they still supported and how are they reviewed?
Yes, whilst not something we encourage/recommend, Espria can support legacy systems that remain essential to your operations. Our goal is to maintain stability while helping you plan a safe, structured route to modernisation.
Support for Legacy Systems
Legacy systems are supported within clear and agreed parameters:
- Continuity: We provide incident management, monitoring and advice through the Service Desk where feasible.
- Best-effort support: Where vendor or manufacturer support is no longer available, Espria provides best-effort assistance while documenting any limitations or risks.
- Integration management: We help ensure legacy systems continue to operate safely alongside newer services.
Review and Governance
Legacy systems are reviewed through our standard governance process to assess:
- Security and compliance risk – since legacy systems are no longer supported, they will be entered into your risk register as they are unlikely to align with current frameworks (e.g. ISO 27001, Cyber Essentials, GDPR).
- Operational resilience – performance, stability and business continuity considerations.
- Modernisation readiness – identifying opportunities to migrate, virtualise or consolidate where beneficial.
Reviews are included in your regular service reviews, with recommendations prioritised by business impact and risk.
Transition and Risk Management
A legacy system is difficult to maintain and will pose compliance and security concerns. As such, we’ll:
- Document and track any known risks in governance dashboards.
- Apply compensating controls where possible to maintain security.
- Develop and agree a roadmap for modernisation or replacement, aligned to your budget, timescales and operational needs.
Key Takeaway
Each service maintains clear governance and accountability, while allowing for adaptation to client-specific needs. Each service operates within structured, transparent frameworks that can be flexibly configured to match each client’s operational, compliance and governance requirements.
Espria supports legacy systems pragmatically, keeping them operational where required, managing associated risks transparently and helping you plan a smooth transition to modern, secure alternatives.
