A New Era of Productivity, Spreckley PR’s migrates to the cloud via LucidLink
About the client
Spreckley PR is a long-established public relations agency based in London, specialising in
B2B technology, professional services and corporate communications. With a reputation for
delivering high-impact campaigns for clients globally, Spreckley operates in a highly
collaborative environment. The business itself has grown over 50% in the past five years,
adding a strain to its existing on-prem infrastructure, which was compounded as the hybrid
working model became embedded post pandemic.
Spreckley was faced with an additional challenge – it’s on-prem server was heading towards
end-of-support and its existing IT infrastructure was causing a serious productivity
headache. While the two-days in and a three-days remote working policy was popular with
employees, what was less so, was the dependence on a VPN to enable access to the
company server. This, combined with a desire to ensure all data was safely at all times and
in locations, meant the organisation had to look for a comprehensive upgrade solution.
At the heart of the upgrade was to ensure Spreckley had fast and secure access to large
volumes of shared content including media assets, press materials and confidential client
information.
Objectives
From a business continuity perspective, Spreckley PR needed to modernise its IT infrastructure and move away from its legacy on-prem server, deliver a Cloud-based solution and one that eradicated the over-reliance on VPN systems.
Its key objectives included:
- Improving collaboration and productivity for staff working from anywhere
- Eliminating delays and frustrations caused by slow VPN connections
- Enhancing data security and resilience through a cloud-first model
- Future-proofing operations with scalable infrastructure that can grow with the business
- Completing the transition with zero disruption to client services
Challenge
The previous VPN-based setup caused frequent connection dropouts and slow file access,
particularly when handling large documents and multimedia files. Collaboration was
impacted, with sync issues and multiple file versions creating confusion.
Remote work highlighted the limitations of the VPN, as employees found it increasingly
difficult to stay productive. The aging on-prem server also posed a risk of downtime, which
the agency could not afford in a deadline-driven environment. Spreckley needed a seamless
transition to a modern system without risking downtime or data loss.
The Espria solution
Espria recommended migrating to AWS cloud storage using LucidLink, to provideing a
modern cloud-native file system accessible without a VPN. After a detailed assessment,
Espria executed the cutover in May 2025 with zero downtime. Critical data was securely
migrated, and the staff gained real-time streaming access to files through LucidLink,
significantly improving speed and reliability. Espria managed onboarding and training to
ensure smooth adoption and now delivers ongoing support, ensuring security, scalability and
optimal performance. The new system has transformed Spreckley’s operational efficiency,
allowing the team to collaborate seamlessly from any location.
Client Testimonial
Richard Merrin, CEO, Spreckley PR
“Modernising our infrastructure wasn’t a ‘nice-to-have’, it was absolutely essential for the
future of our agency. Our teams thrive when they can collaborate quickly and seamlessly, yet
the old VPN setup simply didn’t support that way of working. We needed a solution that
would keep us fast, secure and flexible.
With Espria’s support from Espria,, we’ve removed the bottlenecks that were slowing us
down, and our staff can now access shared content instantly, whether they’re in the office,
working from home or travelling. The transition to LucidLink on AWS hasn’t just improved
performance, it’s given us real peace of mind. We know our files are protected, resilient and
future-proof.
We also have team members working remotely from abroad, including places like the
Republic of Ireland and Spain. For Enabling them to access files quickly and securely,
without any fuss, was absolutely critical. Before, they had to rely on the old VPN, which
frequently slowed them down or disconnected, something that’s simply unacceptable when
you’re working to tight deadlines. Now, the experience is as seamless as if they were in the
London office.Another major benefit is that we’ve been able to retire the physical server we had onsite,
which was taking up space and required constant maintenance. Removing that on-premises
equipment has freed up room and eliminated an administrative burden, it’s a tangible sign of
us moving forward as a fully cloud-enabled business.
What excites us most is the scalability. As we continue to grow, this infrastructure grows with
us, without the cost and hassle of more hardware. Espria handled the migration brilliantly
with zero disruption to client delivery. This upgrade has genuinely transformed the way we
operate day to day.”

The Hidden Costs of Printing: How Managed Print Services Reduce Business Waste
Introduction For many organisations, printing is viewed as a routine operational expense. Printers are purchased, toner is replaced when needed, and documents continue to flow through the business without much scrutiny. However, the true cost of printing extends far beyond paper and ink. Unmanaged print environments often create hidden expenses through inefficient device usage, excessive energy consumption, IT support demands, security risks, and employee downtime. These costs can accumulate significantly over time, impacting productivity and profitability. This is particularly relevant as businesses seek to optimise operations, reduce waste, and improve sustainability while controlling expenditure. Whether…
Can Your Business Actually Recover? The Operational Resilience Question Most SMEs Cannot Answer
Operational resilience is not a technology problem. It is a business problem. And until boards and leadership teams own it, no amount of IT investment will be enough. The Gap Between Confidence and Reality Most organisations believe they are more resilient than they are. The backups are running. The antivirus is licensed. The IT team knows what they are doing. That confidence, in our experience, rarely survives first contact with an actual incident. The question is not whether your systems are protected. The question is whether your business can keep delivering its most important services…
Why the Sophos–Microsoft Partnership Matters – Especially for Education, Financial Services and Legal Organisations
For most organisations today, Microsoft is the foundation of how you operate and on top of this there is also a requirement for regulatory compliance and operational resilience. Whether it’s Microsoft 365 for collaboration, Teams for communication, or Azure for infrastructure, these platforms sit at the heart of day-to-day business. But for sectors like Education, Financial Services, and Legal, that reliance comes with heightened risk, and responsibility. These organisations are not only prime targets for cyber attackers, they are also subject to strict regulatory, data protection and governance obligations. That’s why the partnership between Sophos…
Why Cyber Resilience Can’t Be Audited Once a Year: Lessons from the UK Cyber Action Plan
Moving from box‑ticking compliance to real‑world cyber readiness Written by Richard Puckey Cyber security has a confidence problem For years, many organisations have taken comfort in annual cyber audits, certifications and compliance checklists. Pass the audit, tick the box and move on. On paper, everything looks secure. The problem? Cyber threats don’t operate on an annual cycle. The UK’s Cyber Action Plan is a clear signal that this approach is no longer enough. It challenges businesses to rethink cyber security not as a periodic compliance exercise, but as a living, breathing capability and culture that must stand up…
How Housing Associations Can Transform Tenant Experience with Modern OmniChannel CX
Written by Russell Hallam, CX Consultant at Espria In today’s housing landscape, tenants expect fast, seamless and personal interactions, no matter which channel they use. Phone, digital, web chat, video, email, messaging: it all needs to feel connected, consistent and effortless. But for many teams, the reality is different. Disconnected systems slow down responses, important information is buried across platforms and frontline staff shoulder the burden of manual processes. At Espria, we’ve helped housing associations modernise their customer experience with cloud-enabled omnichannel solutions designed for efficiency, visibility and compliance. Here’s what that looks like in action. 1. RealTime CRM Integration: Context at the Exact Moment You Need It When a tenant calls,…
Elevating Human Risk Management: A Boardroom Must for Cyber Resilience in 2026
Written by Richard Puckey As organisations move through 2026, cybersecurity has firmly established itself as a core business risk. Regulatory scrutiny is increasing, threat actors are more capable than ever and the operational and reputational impact of cyber incidents continues to escalate. In response, businesses have invested heavily in security technology such as advanced detection platforms, zero trust architectures, AI-driven analytics and automated response capabilities. These controls are considered essential and non-negotiable. However, are they sufficient? The reality facing security leaders today is clear, the majority of material cyber incidents still involve a human decision…
