Edmond Shipway – Reducing IT Running Costs in the Construction Industry

Edmond Shipway

The Company

Edmond Shipway is a multi-award-winning UK based multi-disciplinary construction consultancy dealing with over £600 million of construction activity per annum. With a rich heritage in the leisure sector they are behind some of the most well-known resort venues in the UK.

The Challenge

As a strategic IT partner and Managed Service provider, Espria had already been engaged in a number of high-level strategic projects relating to their business process and IT infrastructure. Edmond Shipway wanted to optimise their IT license investment to reduce costs by simplifying the distribution of devices and applications to all employees whether remote or on-site. They also wanted to reduce the complexity of a co-location and highly costly legacy IT platform and the delivery of applications to users as well as remove all on-premise storage and core infrastructure. Additionally, they needed greater resilience for sharing, storage and back-up of their data, particularly large format CAD designs and other architectural plans which required enormous amounts of space as well as scalability.

The Solution

Espria recommended a Microsoft and LucidLink solution that would reduce IT running costs and effectively optimise licenses, to take advantage of additional features whilst enhancing user experience, performance and flexibility. Whilst all users had the same licenses, each had different user requirements. The Solutions Architects at Espria analysed these requirements in order to establish who needed what and when and from this a deployment schedule was created.

The Result

With enhanced license capability each user now had the ability to work as they needed. LucidLink was provisioned to ensure data was more secure, more accessible and backed up in the cloud. The business risk of data loss was significantly reduced and all devices were accessible remotely with InTune deployment/upgrade capability. “Edmond Shipway and Espria have a long and well-established partnership which has enabled a collaborative approach to the evolution of our IT infrastructure. In this project, due to their knowledge of our business and our requirements, they were able to offer solutions that would not only meet our needs but our budget requirements. I’m very happy with the way that the project progressed. Both Consultants were extremely knowledgeable and prompt to answer any queries. I’d be very happy to work with them again. Feedback from the business has also been very good!” – Adam Fyfe, IT Manager.
